Mobileye CEO Amnon Shashua on computer vision, driving policy, and HD maps for self-driving cars

The section on computer vision shows off some really cool stuff. Apparently Mobileye uses camera-based depth mapping to detect unrecognized objects. I didn’t realize that was a thing, but it makes sense.

At Tesla Autonomy Day, Stuart Bowers talked about detecting unrecognized objects. I guessed this was done by looking for a gap in the road surface and maybe it is, but it could also be done via depth mapping.
